We are so excited to share this amazing shoot in Niagara On The Lake that was featured in Bridal Musings and in the December issue of Vogue UK! The floral inspiration for this editorial included soft mauve and burgundy tones with cream and blush. A burgundy and blush colour palette is often associated with a fall wedding and it was so much fun to create a look with this colour palette using spring flowers! Hellebores, Lilac, Ranunculus and Tulips were locally sourced from our garden and Niagara flower growers. Niagara-on-the-Lake and surrounding area, are home to a number of National Historic sites including the beloved Willowbank Mansion. When we were first approached by Kirsten at Nobl Events for a fine art inspired styled shoot, we were completely drawn to the idea of a cinematic love story. This romantic, old-world bridal shoot tells the 1830’s love story of Genevieve and Nathaniel. The historic Willowbank Mansion located in the Niagara region was the perfect backdrop to tell this charming historic tale.

Willowbank is a Greek Revival style mansion which features 8 large hand carved columns on the south entrance. This space is also home to the School of Restoration Art where their students learn the art of heritage conservation. Two large sweeping staircases are the focal point of the front entrance to the mansion and were the backdrop for the lovers wedding ceremony. Freestanding floral arches and a semicircle floral installation framed Genevieve and Nathaniel as they spoke their hand written vows. The reception table was beautifully laid with gold rimmed plates, soft linens, calligraphy details as well as vintage brass candlesticks.

One of our favourite elements was the interior staircase that leads to the upper floors. A floral installation with tealight candles creates an atmosphere of desire and passion as Genevieve and Nathaniel spend their first night together as a married couple. This retelling and imagined history allows us to step back in time and dream of an era since past!
